God’s Grace Drives Everything

Leadership Lesson

Jesus-style leaders know that God’s grace pervades all their life (past, present and future).

Read Ephesians 2:4-10

Comment

God’s grace has huge ramifications for you. Let’s work through this Scripture. 1. PAST: You have been saved by grace (2:5,8). God chose you to be his forever child. There was nothing you could do to get him to save you. Your acceptance by God came as a completely free gift for you. That’s grace. 2. FUTURE: God has so much more that he wants to show you of his grace (2:7). In the new heaven and earth, God will shower you with incredible blessings (“incomparable riches”) that you can’t even dream of, as you rule with him. And you don’t have to do a thing to earn this. That’s grace. 3. PRESENT: God has designed and created you (“God’s handiwork” 2:10) to do the things he has prepared for you to do. While you have to cooperate with God, all your gifts and abilities come as a gift from God so that you will be productive in your ministry. That’s grace. We are saved and blessed and empowered in a way we don’t deserve. That’s grace.

Prayer

You have great plans for me Lord. Through your grace, I not only have been saved by Jesus and will rule with you forever, but I get to do good stuff now as your power works through the gifts and abilities you have given me. I am such a great example of your grace Lord and I appreciate it deeply.

Personal Reflection

What excites you most about God’s grace? Do you focus most on God’s grace in the past, present or future? Why? How do you expect that God in his grace will work through you today?
