Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 12預覽
The book of Revelation unveils the Revelation of Christ. Chapter 4 takes place within the Throne Room and introduces this idea of Christ as Ruler. In the midst of the turmoil, tribulation, and persecution that the writer of Revelation experienced in his time, one thing is clear: Christ rules eternally. The throne is the ultimate seat of God’s sovereignty and authority. All bow before Him. All stand in awe of who He is. As we behold him, we see the various dimensions of his personhood. Not only is He Creator of all that exists, but in fact He made a way so that all the broken things in life could be reconciled back to him. We see this truth mirrored in other portions of Scripture.
Colossians 1:15-17 (ESV) reminds us that Christ is pre-eminent in every way. He surpasses all. He is distinguished and stands out above all. He has no rival. Christ has the first priority at all times and in every season. Irrespective of how upside-down the world appears to be or how we struggle to navigate our own personal challenges, He remains Lord.
Isaiah 9:6-7 (ESV) makes it clear that there will be no end to the increase of his government. Nothing can change His Lordship. There is only one Lord. His government or lordship increases in our personal lives, homes, workplaces, and communities as we surrender to his leadership. As we respond to his leadership, we benefit by living life as He intended it.
Two questions to ask yourself today –
- Which area of my life requires his lordship?
- How will I respond to that revelation?
