Walk Humbly

3天中的第3天

Waiting is the worst, especially when we’re waiting for justice to be served. Even though we don’t always see fixes for every evil thing immediately, we still have hope! God promises a day when wars will cease, hunger will be only a memory, and our bodies, minds, and hearts will be whole.

Romans says that all creation is waiting for this day and groaning like a woman in labor. Quite a picture, isn't it? Did you know that those sounds a woman makes in childbirth actually help the labor progress? Those deep sounds help release tension, relieve pain, and summon strength! This is a great metaphor for us as we work through the pain of this life, waiting for God’s great deliverance of justice. We can’t be afraid to cry out to the Lord, acknowledging our pain. This process of lament helps us get through and tell the truth about the injustices of the world.

Reflection Questions:

Romans says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. We can experience God’s love in the midst of injustice; we don’t have to wait until we make it through. Is there something you’re waiting to get through before you experience God’s love? How can you accept God’s love now in the midst of the mess?

How can you walk humbly and hopefully, patiently and confidently, until the justice you’re waiting for comes?
