Life-Giver

Strengthen my resolve,

Life-Giver,

Stir an intolerance of half-truth;

Fuel my outrage 

when compassion is denied 

And bread stolen

Leaving empty hands.

Grant me discomfort, 

Word Of God,

Be the spur of my contempt

For duplicity and double talk

When self-interest masquerades 

As a courageous choice

And the helpless are despised.

Illuminate my spirit,

Defeater of darkness,

Renew that ancient hope

Of justice unleashed,

The humble honoured

And all things re-ordered

As the meek inherit the earth.
