Longing For Jesusنموونە

“John was a man sent from God to bear witness about the light.”
What an amazing job description!
Some might also say what a frightening responsibility!
As Christians we have all been called to bear witness about this light. As Jesus draws near to us we can respond in two ways. One, enthusiastically accept the offer. Two, with fear abandon our responsibility. Hopefully this advent we will accept our solemn responsibility.
When we accept this responsibility we become catalysts of order in the life of another individual. The transformation that Jesus brings into your life will bear witness about what he can do in their life. Advent is no longer merely your longing for his arrival but also welcoming others to witness his arrival.
There are four possibilities in bearing witness to Christ. One, we do a terrible of job of bearing witness and Jesus is forgotten. Two, in the process of bearing witness we take the glory and Jesus is forgotten. Three, we bear witness and yet people choose to forget him. Four, we bear witness and people accept the light of Jesus.
This advent let us consciously be aware of what it means to reflect his light. We should not be the reason why people opt to ignore Christ. This advent as we prepare for his coming are we afraid that if he comes he might displace our own little kingdoms? John was fully aware that he is not the light but only a reflector of His light. Finally, let us accept the opportunity, with love, to bear witness to the true light which gives light to everyone.

As we approach Christmas every year our anticipation of his arrival resembles that of the first Christians. We long for him. As we wait, we prepare and plan, regardless of our circumstances.
