Great Is Their Oppressiveness
God always intended His people to be a “light to the nations” – to show the world how worshipping God is good for us and everyone around us. Therefore, God is embarrassed and angry when His people become examples of sin, ungodliness and oppression instead. This is why we need Jesus. He is the ultimate demonstration of how godliness liberates us – because He, by his death and resurrection for us, liberates us from our sin.
How does godliness free us from oppressive ways of life – from ways of thinking and acting which insult God, damage us, and hurt those we love?
