Ordinary Moments: Small Prayers That Can Change the World With Wycliffe Bible Translatorsنموونە

At the Water Cooler
Picture this scene: It’s mid-afternoon at work. That means it’s time for you to stand up, stretch out or do that thing where you stare into the distance so your eyes can rest from looking at a computer screen. Maybe you’ll grab a candy bar if you’re feeling adventurous.
A break, no matter how brief, is a great opportunity to refocus and put things in perspective. One of the greatest blessings of the Christian life is that God gave us one another; you don’t have to do life alone! And through prayer, you can connect with people around the world — even those you've never met! Don’t forget that God even works miracles through the prayers of His people. Reading Acts 12:1-19, you’ll be inspired by the account of the church praying for Peter while he was in prison. And what was the result of their prayers? Peter’s miraculous escape!
There are people in communities and churches around the world who are part of your spiritual family. Today the Great Commission is being advanced by the global Church, and local churches are taking ownership of seeing their communities, countries and even entire regions reached with Scripture.
Let’s pray for the Church around the world:
- Africa: I pray that Scripture would transform the Church in unimaginable ways as it becomes available in every language in Africa.
- Americas: I ask for unity among church leaders and language communities so that they stand strong and stay true to You and Your Word.
- Asia: Lord, I ask for the safety of the Church and political stability in areas of Asia that face persecution.
- Europe: I pray that the Church would continue to be engaged in the vision of seeing the Bible translated into the languages still needing it.
- Pacific: Lord, I pray that communities of believers around the Pacific would be reminded of Your love for their language and culture.
God’s plan to complete His mission of making His name known among the nations includes you! You can provide strength to the global Church through your prayers.
Things to Ponder:
- What does it mean to you to be a part of God’s global Church?
- How can you use a quick break today to pray for what God is doing around the world?
- What difficulties are you facing in your life that people in communities and churches around the world could also be experiencing?
