DAY THREE: Be Healed From Your Bondage
Grace trumps the law! When the sin of your lawbreaking increases and abounds, grace surpasses it and super abounds! When I read today’s verse, hope swells in my heart because I need grace. So do you.
How many times a day do you unintentionally (or even deliberately) break God’s law? Have you fallen into alcohol abuse or adultery? Do you get irritated and short with your spouse? It’s all sin, and the enemy loves when you do it.
However, when your sin abounds, God’s free, unmerited, and undeserved grace supersedes it! What does that mean on a practical level? Suppose you slip up and sin during the course of your day. You can just repent of your sin.
Before God’s magnificent grace came, you were essentially the legal property of the law. It had dominion over you. You were forced to follow and obey it, even though you could not. But grace freed you from that bondage. That truth is a death knell to Satan. He would love you to stay enslaved to laws you cannot keep. Then he would always have the legal right to put death on you. But Christ purchased your freedom; thus, you are no longer a slave but a subject of God’s free grace!
