The Whole Story: A Life in God's Kingdom, Part Fourنموونە

Family Devotional:
On the surface, the food laws in Leviticus could appear as mundane. Upon deeper inspection, however, there are many lessons to be gleaned from these laws. In Leviticus 11, God outlines the importance of his people to avoid the meat of “unclean” animals. Interestingly, God goes as far as to forbid Israel from even touching such animals. This is an important lesson in temptation. When you know you shouldn’t engage in something, it’s best not to put yourself in a situation in which you are close to the very thing you are looking to avoid.
Daily Demonstration:
Take a moment to be honest with yourself. What are some of the most influential temptations in your life? In what ways are putting yourself within “touching” distance of those temptations? How can you avoid both the temptation and the nearness of the temptation? Act upon those things today.
