Jesus believes in you
If you were following Jesus 2000 years ago and he asked you to get out of THIS boat and walk on THIS water with him, I bet most of us would jump straight in. If the waters were this smooth and calm it would be easy to take a step of faith. That’s because when God calls us to do something that seems easy and fits in with our plans or doesn't require us to take a risk, it's easy to take a step of faith.
But when Jesus called Peter to step out of the safety of his boat, the story says there was a strong wind and high waves! The burly fisherman was frightened, but he stepped out anyway. Then, as Peter's fear took over and he started to sink, Jesus called out his lack of faith - not in Jesus who was still walking on the water, but in himself. Jesus believed Peter could do what he was being called to do - and Jesus believes you can do whatever he is calling you to do as well.
If you're stepping into a howling storm today, Jesus believes you can do it, and is ready to stand with you. Today is your day to get out of the boat!
