From the outside in
Most times when I get up early to photograph a sunrise, I immediately regret my decision. I’m tired. I’m grumpy. All I want to do is curl back up in bed. But then I walk into a scene like this near Geelong, Australia … and I no longer care that it’s cold or that I’m tired. The result of my actions changes my thinking.
This is what author A.J. Jacobs means when he said “… a large part of spiritual living involves getting up off your butt and doing. No doubt, deep thought can change your behavior. But it’s also a two-way street. Deep behavior can change your thoughts. Often our transformation starts on the outside and works its way inward.”
Today, your faith can either be something you believe internally, or it can be something you do externally. When your belief in God’s promise to rescue you is reflected in your behavior, the results will be more beautiful than any sunrise.
