Most mornings my routine includes using concealer. For those not familiar, concealer is a makeup product that masks under eye circles, age spots, blemishes- you name it. As much as I love my concealer, there are times where it just can’t cover something up, and will even make things look worse.
In these verses Jesus is warning His disciples of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is outward conformity (appearing to have it all together or go through the motions), without inner reality. I think it’s so important for us to drop our concealer and be authentic with ourselves, others, and God. I find so much comfort knowing that I can’t hide a single thought from the Lord, but He still pursues and desires a relationship with me. We are not perfect, but let’s not let our actions, attitudes, or behavior ever turn anyone away from the Lord.
What have you been trying to conceal from others?
