The Greatest Gift is Merciful

When Mary praised God in Luke 1:46-55, she highlighted His mercy: “His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.” Christmas is more than the story of a baby in a manger—it’s a celebration of God’s mercy wrapped in human flesh. Jesus is the greatest gift, and through Him, we receive mercy we could never earn. Deuteronomy 4:31 reminds us that “the Lord your God is a merciful God.” He doesn’t abandon us. He forgives, restores, and welcomes us with open arms.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” No matter what yesterday held, mercy meets us at the start of each day. And Hebrews 4:16 invites us to come boldly to the throne of grace—to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God doesn’t ask you to have it all together—He just asks you to come.

Your Next Step:

Begin each day with gratitude for fresh mercy. When you mess up, fall short, or feel unworthy, don’t shrink back—run to the throne of grace. Practice approaching God with boldness in prayer, worship, and confession. Let His mercy become your motivator, not your excuse. His love doesn’t just cover your past; it equips your present and empowers your future.

Today's Declaration:

God’s mercy is new every day. I will come boldly to His throne, confident in His love and grace for me.

Today's Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for being rich in mercy. Thank you for the gift of Jesus, the greatest display of that mercy. Help me approach you with boldness, knowing you are full of grace. Let your compassion shape how I see myself and how I live. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Journal Prompt:

Do you approach God boldly? Why or why not?
