Everyone Needs Forgiveness | Read

Jesus upset the religious experts because He was offering people a new kind of relationship with God. The religious experts made a living out of telling people what they could and couldn’t do to keep God happy, and then Jesus comes along and starts messing with their rules and regulations and offering a whole new way of relating to God!

It’s easy to slip into thinking that God is scoring us on our behavior, that the hard things in our world are payback for our sins. But Jesus flips that idea on its head. When we are desperate enough to bring our brokenness to God, He says the same words to us. “Hey... your sins are forgiven!” No humiliation, no harshness... just an offer of forgiveness.

Like the paralyzed man, many of us get introduced to Jesus through a friend. When we meet Him, His offer of forgiveness can change our world. It would be great to thank God for whoever was part of your journey, bringing you here.

Start a conversation with God about forgiveness. This is the foundation of our relationship with Him. It is a free gift, one that we discover more and more each day. Getting to know God begins with letting go of our own efforts for goodness and accepting something we didn’t earn. Forgiveness.
