New Creation

To be “in Christ” is to be united with him. Those of us who have come to faith in Jesus are new creations. Our motivations, desires, and longings are changed to such a degree that it is as if we become completely different people. We no longer have the same appetites, and now we find satisfaction in belonging to God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 is both a declaration of truth and a promise. Whatever characterized our life before meeting Jesus is now forgotten. Psalm 103:12 says God removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. In Jeremiah 31:34, we read that God’s forgiveness is so complete, it is as if God blots out the memory of our sin. He is the God of second chances and redemption. Reflect upon this truth in light of your own life and that of others around you.

Lord, thank you for making me a new person through your grace. I will never be the same again!
