Christian Community

As you follow Jesus, it’s important to be part of a Christian community with other Christ-followers. At times, following Jesus is challenging. You may have questions about something you read in your Bible. You may need prayer and guidance as you make a decision, or you might need encouragement and love. When you have the support from a community of other Christ-followers, you are better prepared to meet challenges, and in turn, you have the opportunity to care for someone else in need.

The New Testament writers had a lot to say about the importance of being part of a diverse community unified in Christ. As mentioned earlier, these communities included people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and classes. Still, the early church leaders implored the believers to lay aside any self-importance and to participate in the Christian community with like-mindedness, mutual submission, and unity.

The purpose of the Christian community is to bear witness of Jesus by sharing the story of His life, death, and resurrection and by following Jesus’ example by loving and serving one another.
