If you’ve ever played a sport or been a part of any kind of team, then you know what it’s like to have a coach. The coach calls the plays and helps the whole team work together. The coach’s goal is to make the best calls and plays for the team to ultimately win the game.

When it comes to faith, God is a lot like our coach. God knows all the plays and the wins in our life. And when we spend time with God, we can discover what those plays and wins practically look like in our lives— at school, at home, in our friend groups—and what steps we need to take along the way.

Is there a situation or area of your life right now where you’re not sure what your next “play” should be? Ask God to give you wisdom and lead you toward the next step.

Do you ever rely too much on your friend's advice that you don't even ask God what to do? It's an easy pattern to fall into. If we prayed about things as much as we thought or asked others about them, I wonder what wisdom we would walk away with. After all, we would be asking the source of wisdom–God!

When you think about seeking advice from a friend, coach, or mentor, consider praying about it to see what wisdom you get from time with the Lord. Turn to God’s word, too, since it is just as alive today as it was all of those years ago!
