When you decide to follow Jesus, it isn't a happy ending to your story but is actually just the start. It's like a seed that has been planted and begins to sprout from the soil. You are a new creation and are given a chance to start again. In order to grow into the person you were created to be, you have to stay connected to the source of life itself — God.
For some, this growth may come in the form of a dramatic change, but for many, this change is gradual. It happens over time and with many unexpected turns along the way. However the growth happens, following Jesus leads us to a changed life.
So, how about you? How have you seen your life change since Jesus entered it? Maybe the way you view yourself has changed. As a new creation, our identity is defined by how God sees us — loved. Maybe the way you view others has changed. Knowing everyone is made in God's image and likeness reminds us to love first rather than judge others easily.
All of these are ways our lives start to shift after knowing Jesus. Becoming a new creation means shedding what was comfortable or familiar and welcoming a new way to live. We now have the chance to gain a fresh start and see others as they are, loved by God.
