What are some things you need to create a great party? Balloons, decorations, party hats, yummy food, and a special cake! People will bring presents, and there could even be games and music.

We love to celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Easter, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving… any reason to have a party! The people of King David’s day also loved to celebrate.

We’ve been learning all about the psalms. Psalms of thanksgiving to God, psalms of hope in God during troubled times, and now psalms of celebration! David and the Israelite people sure knew how to celebrate. They celebrated with music, singing, and dancing. Their festive choruses were a feature of wedding ceremonies. They used music and dancing to show their thanksgiving to God when they finished harvesting food and gathering grapes. When their armies were victorious, they would be met with songs of celebration when the warriors returned home.

When King David returned the Ark to Jerusalem, there was a party. A Praise Party! There was music, dancing and even cake! Over the next few days, we’ll learn all about the psalms of praise and victory. It’s a ‘Praise Party’ because we have victory in Jesus' name!
