I'm Afraid of Losing My Job
The 21st century has been a hard ride so far, hasn't it? As the economy changes, positions change. Jobs disappear. New positions arise for which few are prepared. Old companies go under. Marketing overseas is no longer an option for many firms--it is life or death. More and more American products go abroad, but so do more and more jobs.
How many people do you know who have lost their jobs? Are you fearful for yours? Have you had hours reduced? a pay freeze? benefits cut? involuntary furloughs? pressure for early retirement? regular corporate layoffs?
Constant money anxiety erodes the soul, doesn't it? Money fear and money arguments damage marriages. Parents feel like failures because they can’t invest in their children's education the way they would like.
Have you had to burn up savings to survive? Do you know people who fear losing their home? Does the fear of poverty live in your heart? "The poor are shunned even by their neighbors" (Proverbs 14:20).
Lord, help us!
