Celebrate Communion – a Time to Honour Jesusنموونە

Before Jesus came, God’s people lived by the law that God had given to Moses. They worshipped God and offered sacrifices through priests and religious leaders. They lived according to religious rules to try and stay right with God. When Jesus came everything changed. Jesus made a way for us to be right with God. A way that meant we didn’t have to strive to be perfect through following a thousand and one rules. The truth is, not one of us is perfect. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standard. We all deserve to be punished, but Jesus took that punishment for us, in our place.

Through Jesus, we have grace and forgiveness. If we put our faith in Jesus, we can be made right with God. This is why we take communion, to remember that Jesus died and rose again for each one of us. We can rejoice and be happy, giving thanks for all that He has done for us. Jesus said, “Remember me” to His disciples as they broke the bread and drank from the cup. Jesus makes us right with God, and when we take time for communion, we honour Jesus.
