Faith in the Fireنموونە

DAY FOUR
WALKING BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT
📖 Scriptures for Study & Reflection:
- 2 Corinthians 5:7 – "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
- Hebrews 11:6 – "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
- Proverbs 3:5-6 – "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Devotional:
Walking by faith is easier said than done. We like to have control, to know the plan, and to see results quickly. But faith requires us to trust God even when we do not understand the path ahead. One person in the Bible who struggled with this was Gehazi, the servant of Elisha.
In 2 Kings 4-5, Gehazi witnessed Elisha raise a dead child and heal Naaman of leprosy. He had every reason to trust God, yet his heart was filled with doubt and greed. When Naaman offered Elisha gifts as thanks for his healing, Elisha refused, knowing that God’s power could not be bought. But Gehazi saw an opportunity for himself. He secretly chased after Naaman, lied, and took the gifts. When Elisha confronted him, Gehazi was struck with leprosy—the very disease Naaman had been healed from.
Gehazi’s downfall was that he walked by sight instead of faith. He saw an opportunity for wealth and security and took matters into his own hands rather than trusting that God would provide. We often do the same. When things do not go the way we want, sometimes we manipulate situations, force decisions, or choose comfort over obedience.
Faith is not just about believing in God; it is about living as though His promises are true. It means trusting that He will provide, even when we do not see how. If we are constantly relying on what we can see, touch, or control, we are not truly walking by faith.
Are there areas in your life where you are trying to control the outcome instead of trusting God’s process? Are you choosing security over obedience? Walking by faith means stepping forward, even when we cannot see the whole picture.
Takeaway & Application:
- Do not let fear or impatience lead you to take control instead of trusting God’s timing.
- Walking by faith requires obedience, even when it does not make sense in the moment.
🙏 Prayer: Lord, teach me to trust You even when I do not understand. Help me to walk by faith and not be led by my own understanding. Amen.
✍️ Journal Prompts:
- Have there been times when you struggled to trust God’s timing? What happened?
- What is one practical step you can take today to trust God more instead of relying on what you see?

Faith isn’t just believing—it’s trusting God when the path is unclear. This five-day study explores the lives of faithful yet lesser-known figures in scripture who faced uncertainty and still chose to trust. From Eliezer’s quiet confidence to Zerubbabel’s determined obedience, their stories remind us that faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about relying on the One who does. Through scripture, reflection, and real-life application, you’ll be encouraged to hold fast to God’s promises, even in the waiting. He is always at work, and when you stand firm in Him, your faith will remain unshaken.
