Week 3 — Trained for Battle

Day 15: The Armor of God

Biblical Basis: Ephesians 6:10–13 (ESV)

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

The call to endurance is a call to spiritual warfare. Paul’s charge to “put on the whole armor of God” frames endurance not as passive waiting but as active preparation and battle-readiness.

The “armor” is comprehensive: gird your waist with truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet prepared with the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

This passage reveals the reality behind the leadership journey. It suggests the opposition is not merely external or human but spiritual and systemic. Endurance requires strength drawn from God’s might, not your own. It demands vigilance, intentionality, and complete dependence on divine resources. I'll remind you that standing firm in our faith is the product of preparation and reliance on God’s power, especially when “the evil day” arrives.

Standing firm in Christ and against the schemes of the evil one, moments of trial, attack, or pressure will arise, but they will not prosper or have a hold on us as we are now trained for battle.

DEEP Reflection:

  • D – Draw Near to God:
Pray: “Lord, equip me with Your armor. Strengthen me to stand firm against every attack.”
  • E – Examine the Text:
Read Ephesians 6:10–20. What are the components of the armor? How do they equip believers for spiritual battle?
  • E – Engage Your Heart:
In what areas do you feel most vulnerable to attack? Which piece of the armor feels most neglected in your life?
  • P – Practice the Principle:
Pray through each piece of the armor today, asking God to clothe you fully. Commit to daily putting on this armor as a spiritual discipline.

By the end of your day, reflect on the following question: What spiritual weapon (prayer, fasting, Scripture) do you need to sharpen most right now?

See you on day sixteen.
