Day 3: Beloved, You are Not Alone

Job was not the only person God allowed Satan to sift; Peter, also known as Simon, is another example. Peter walked with Jesus and served alongside Him, yet Satan was given permission to sift Peter “like wheat”—a phrase that describes the process of separating what is valuable from what is waste. Walking with God and serving Jesus does not make us immune to being sifted; however, we are not alone in this process.

Peter’s life shows that when we face challenges and feel as though we are being sifted like wheat, we can embrace these experiences, even though they may be difficult. I find strength in knowing that Jesus not only foresaw what was going to happen but also prayed for Peter. Just as Jesus prayed, Peter eventually returned after being sifted and had the opportunity to strengthen his brothers.

Jesus also prays for us, as it is written in John 17:20-23. Although it may feel like we are going through a challenging process that tests our strength and belief—much like wheat undergoing an intense sifting process—God is faithful and will bring us through the trial. May we continue in the Word and strengthen our brothers and sisters in the faith, just as Peter did.
