Day 4: The Power of Our Words

Introduction:

Today I want to discuss the power of your words. What you say is so important to your healing, and I’m going to use scripture to illustrate just how powerful your words can be. As you watch today’s devotional, I hope you will ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where in your life you need to improve in this area.

The words you speak out of your mouth matter, so always make sure that they aren’t cursing or dooming yourself or someone else to sickness. Even when all the people who love you are saying well-meaning things without the hope of God, you can stand up and speak words of healing and hope over yourself and over everyone you meet. That kind of speaking takes real work and practice, so start today, right now, no matter where you are in life. Your words spoken in His will will make a difference!

Practical Application:

• Challenge yourself today to really listen to the words you say. If you find you are struggling with negativity, find a verse that applies to your situation and simply say it in faith over yourself instead, even if you don’t feel like it.
• Start asking the Holy Spirit to guide the words you speak. Ask Him to help you speak wholesome, honoring words instead of gossip, pessimism, or insult.
