How to Fight Your Battles

ڕۆژی2 لە 4

Right after this powerful moment at the cave, Jesus faced another attack. Not long after Peter’s declaration that Jesus was the Christ and the Son of the living God, Satan used Peter himself to try to deter Jesus from His mission.

Jesus had begun to show His disciples that His death was near—but it was required in order for Him to fulfill God’s plan of resurrection as the Savior of the world. As Jesus began explaining that He would suffer and die, Peter rebuked Him, saying, “Never, Lord! This shall never happen to You!”

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.” Satan tried to use Peter to rebuke Jesus and His prophecy of His death.

Doesn’t that sound familiar? When we take a stand for God or claim victory in His name, the enemy attacks—often using those closest to us. Jesus immediately recognized when the enemy spoke—even through someone He loved. That’s spiritual discernment and boldness. We must learn to do the same.

Just because the voices around us are loud doesn’t mean they are right. People might declare their opinions, voice their concerns, and even mask them with what sounds like good intentions. But if they aren’t rooted in the truth of God’s Word, they are not God’s best.

Fighting your battles requires spiritual discernment and boldness. It requires us to seek God’s interests and surrender to His plan even when it’s hard—knowing that He’s already given us victory on the other side.
