Psalms 1

psalm I
Tuin: St Peter
1O, blessit he, that gangsâna wi
The godless, nor will staunâ
âMidsâ sinfuâ men, nor sit wiâ them
That scoff at Godâs commaunâ;
2But, day and nicht, finâs his delicht,
Aye foremaist abune aâ,
To ponder lang the thochts amang
Oâ Godâs maist holie Law.
3A tree that grows, whaur burnie rowes,
In hairstâtime frit sal gie;
Its leaves sae braw neâer wilt awaâ â
Sae sal the richteous be.
4But godless men can never ken
Sic blessinâs; like they are
To cauf thatâs drivân by winâs oâ hevin,
And skailâd baith near and far.
5In jidgment they, that dinna hae
Regaird for God, maun faâ;
Nor can they gang, that ettle wrang,
Wiâ folk that loe Godâs Law.
6Because the wey oâ gude men aye
The Lord dis brawly ken;
But, shair as ocht, Heâll bring to nocht
The gait oâ godless men.
