Holy Week, Sending Out Disciple Makers - Disciple Makers Series #27Sample
The Death of Jesus
Thoughts on the message
Jesus dies.
There is lots here. I could talk about His words of abandonment. I could talk about the grief of the women, the testimony of the Roman soldier or the miracle of the people who came alive and walked through the city.
I want to talk instead about the curtain. This represents that the way to the presence of God is now open. The veil separated the presence of God from mankind.
Now it is torn down. Hallelujah!
There is no longer a wall between a holy God and sinful man. God has made a way – through the death of Jesus. Our sin has been taken care of. Our restoration to God’s presence is now open for all mankind. It was bought at a terrible price. It was costly beyond measure – but it costs us nothing.
Thank you, Jesus.
Prayer
Father, today I just stand in silence. I know I do not understand the cost of my salvation. I do not understand what it cost to enable me to come back into relationship with You. I only know that whatever it was, Jesus paid it all. I can only say thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
