He is Risen! Believe it  

Thoughts on the message

Two groups of people with the same news – “Jesus is risen and we met angels at the tomb!” – but they went in different directions. The women went to the disciples of Jesus to tell them the good news. The soldiers went to the priests. The people who received the news had different responses as well. The priests – they believed the report, but wanted to hide the truth. The disciples? Well in Mark 16:14 we see that they did not believe the women.

In many ways this is exactly what happens. God’s people hear good news from God – and we struggle to believe it. The world hears the same good news – and they try to hide it/discredit it because they are afraid it is true. We cannot change the way the world responds, but we can be people of faith. 

I tell you today, He is risen! The penalty for sin has been paid. He wants to meet each of us and release forgiveness, destiny and hope. He will give each of us a mission to accomplish – to make disciples of the nations. Believe it!

Prayer

Father, life is so challenging around us that we forget this simple truth – we have heard the good news and You call us to believe it. Forgive me when I look at the world around me and struggle to believe. Today, I ask for You to strengthen my heart to believe the promises that You have released to me. Help me walk not only in obedience, but to do so with clarity so that the world can see. They can try to hide from it, discredit it – but if it is clear through my life that it is real, then they cannot. So strengthen me to live Your Good News today so that my world will see it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
