As we think about being transformed by the Holy Spirit, it can be valuable to think about the things we need the Spirit to help us grow in. Maybe for you it means being more positive, less combative or just increasing in patience. For others it might be valuable to spend more time in prayer, worship or Scripture.
Think of the person in your life you would love to be more like. Don’t focus on the guy with the biggest muscles or the girl who looks amazing and gets millions of likes on Instagram. Think more about character and attitude – whose would you like to emulate? Are you thinking of someone loving, kind, patient, compassionate, fun-loving and adventurous? Or, are you leaning more toward someone who loves conflict, hates dogs and can’t get along with your parents or even their own parents?
Now, be honest with yourself. Do you have those same qualities? Are you loving, patient and compassionate or are you a dog-hating jerk? Sometimes we foster change in our lives simply by recognizing the areas in which we need to grow. Think about the qualities you value in others. Then ask the Spirit to instill or increase those in you.

How much do we really change when the clock strikes midnight? This study is going to go beyond changing ourselves, as we look into how Jesus is transforming us.
