DAY 4 OF 4

Marathon runners are just downright impressive. 26.2 miles is a lot to drive, let alone run. You’re not going to meet someone who ran a marathon and didn’t train for it. If you do, they probably quit by mile ten. The training is intense and it happens daily. Eating right, running regularly and getting your mind in the game.

Interestingly enough, marathon runners never run more than 20 miles in training. That’s their cap. So, when they run the actual thing, they usually hit the “Runner’s Wall” around mile 20. Personally, getting past mile 3 sounds brutal. But mile 20 is where the “I can’t do this” mentality really seems to begin.

That’s why endurance matters. Endurance, as we see in the Bible means “to stand firm.” It means that when the negativity, fear, anxiety, struggle or fatigue sets in, we keep going. The Bible tells us that if we’re going to chase after Jesus, it’s a chase that requires endurance. We might face a few ‘runner’s walls’, but the Spirit supplies power and stamina to keep going.

Most New Year’s resolutions don’t last. People give up or just lose steam on their quest for a “New Year, New You.”  No matter your resolution, run with endurance the race set before you!

Day 3

About this Plan

New Year’s Resolutions are a common thing. “New Year, New You” has become THE saying entering the New Year. But, how often does that really happen? How much do we really change when the clock strikes midnight? This study is going to go beyond changing ourselves, as we look into how Jesus is transforming us.
