Strategy For The StruggleSample
Looking Out The Window
As I read Proverbs 7:6, the famous song by Manfred Mann started in my head…
“There she was just a-walkin’ down the street, singin’ ‘Doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’
Snappin’ her fingers and shufflin’ her feet, singin’ ‘Doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’
She looked good, she looked fine
She looked good, she looked fine
and I nearly lost my mind”
“Before I knew it she was walkin’ next to me, singin’ ‘Doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’
Holdin’ my hand just as natural as can be, singin’ ‘Doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’
We walked into my door
We walked into my door, then we kissed a little more.”
This is such a true and culturally relevant illustration and this doesn’t just apply to young men!
In our culture today it appears that this is the natural, normal course of events… “looks good, looks fine… think I will just make it mine…”
Proverbs 7 relays this timeless truth in a simple illustration that exposes a fundamental reality of life – “If you are looking for the road to hell, just go looking for her/his house!”
There are so many warnings for us in this chapter – it’s best that we take note and “guard our lives with His revelation-truth, for His teaching is as precious as our eyesight.” (verse 2, TPT)
Holy Spirit, help us to “say to wisdom, “I love you” and to understanding, “You’re my sweetheart.” (verse 4, TPT) because these two things will protect us and help us live well.
