Strategy For The Struggle

DAY 8 OF 32

Battlefronts

I empower kings to reign and rulers to make laws that are just.

I empower princes to rise and take dominion, and generous ones to govern the earth.

Proverbs 8:15-16 TPT

There are always two pictures that come to mind when I think “Battlefronts”... The image of William Wallace charging into battle from the movie Braveheart, and the grand old Bible story of David and Goliath.

A king’s ability to reign is tested on the Battlefronts he faces. We have been made kings and priestly rulers by the grace of redemption. It is no wonder the enemy of heaven is always attacking the borders of our inheritance, defying the King of heaven by trying to take us captive.

What I love about the story of David and Goliath is how David (A picture of Christ) ran to the battlefront.

And David rose early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper and took the provisions and went, as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the encampment as the host was going out to the battle line, shouting the war cry. And Israel and the Philistines drew up for battle, army against army. And David left the things in charge of the keeper of the baggage and ran to the battlefront and went and greeted his brothers.1 Sam 17:20-22

David’s brothers had gone out daily for forty days to meet the Philistine army and every time, I am sure, were saying, “Today is the day we will fight. We will have courage, we will not be afraid……” BUT, when the giant defied them, they all ran away. Until David arrived. He took on the giant with a few stones and a sling and killed Goliath. More than that, he brought about a victory for the whole nation. David proved his ability to reign that day on the battlefield.

This story reminds me of when we, as humanity, stood paralysed before the enemy of heaven and we were unable to fight because of our rebellion against God. BUT GOD, sent His Son, the son of David. He ran to our battlefront and conquered sin and death for us by the cross and has handed this amazing victory over to us.

The Dictionary defines Battlefronts as, “a place or context within which a struggle is fought” –Merriam Webster

The places, contexts or struggles we face today are nothing like the battle that Jesus fought for our salvation but the difference is we fight from victory not for victory. Yes we face difficulties and hardships with finances, relationships, work issues and the like, but they are there to prove our ability to reign in life.

Proverbs promises us that Wisdom will empower us to reign and rule in this life! Let us seek and gain wisdom as we continue to fight shoulder to shoulder against our common enemy.
