Walking With JesusSample
Suffering and the Grace of God
Sin is the root of all suffering in the world today. What should we do when we encounter suffering and persecution for the sake of Jesus?
Not all people will love you after you become a follower of Jesus. Following Jesus will not make you the most popular person in the world. Many people hated Jesus, especially the religious leaders (Pharisees and Sadducees). What did Jesus say about this?
Self-discovery:
- Our attitude – Romans 5:3-5, James 1:2-4, Matthew 19:29
- The grace of God when I am weak – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
- God is gracious – Nehemiah 9:17
- How did Paul see his ministry in relation to God’s grace? - 1 Corinthians 15:10, 2 Corinthians 3:5-6
We do not deserve God’s goodness and kindness, but He decided to pour out His undeserved love and favour upon us without expecting anything in return. It is His grace that enables us to be used by Him.
Reflection questions (write your answers in a journal):
- What are some areas in which you think you are strong and do not need God?
- Now take some time and surrender these to the lordship of Jesus.
