Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & MercySample
August 8
Introduction
Seven days after the Nile River had been turned into blood, two more disasters strike Egypt in the form of frogs and gnats. But the king remains stubborn and refuses to listen to Moses and Aaron.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 8:10b
Moses said, “I will do as you ask, and then you will know that there is no other god like the LORD, our God.”
Today’s Reading
Exodus 8:1-19
Reflect
Why does the king of Egypt ask Moses and Aaron to pray for him (verse 8)? In doing as the king asks, what does Moses want the king to know about God (verse 10)? How did the king behave after the frogs were dead? What did the king’s magicians say to the king when the gnats appeared (verse 19)? What was the king’s reaction?
Pray
Lord God, teach me to heed your voice and obey your commands. Guide my actions this day and help me to live in accord with your will. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Victims of natural disasters
Tomorrow’s Reading
Exodus 8:20-32: Swarms of flies infest Egypt.
