On average, we see almost 5,000 ads every single day. 5,000 different messages telling you what to buy, what to watch, where to go, and what to do. These ads promise happiness or fun. That’s what life is all about, isn’t it? Being happy?
A lot of people believe this. They believe having the right clothes, right shoes, right phone, right games, or right whatever will make them happy. They believe more stuff equals more happiness.
That’s what the man in Jesus’ story thought. He had way more food than he knew what to do with, so he built bigger barns to store it all. Everyone would have looked at this guy and said: “he’s rich.” He has everything you could possibly want. Or did he?
Jesus told this man, "a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with Jesus." According to Jesus, there's something even more valuable than stuff and happiness - a rich relationship with God.
How is your relationship with God? Is it rich? Or has stuff distracted you from Him?

About this Plan
Jesus often taught using stories. These stories are better known as parables. Jesus’ parables can sometimes be quite confusing. In fact, Jesus once said that not everyone who heard them would understand them. And yet, these parables contain so much meaning and truth. Over the next five days, we'll look at several parables and uncover their meaning.
