Christmyths

DAY 1 OF 4

Thanks to GPS and smartphones we no longer have to use the stars to get around. Thank you, technology! But, here’s a question for you - did the wise men follow an actual star or was it something else?

The truth is we don’t know.

However, different people have different ideas on what this might have been. Some believe the star the wise men saw was a planetary conjecture (where two planets pass over each other and look like a bright star). The wise men studied the stars and believed different planets meant different things. In this case, Jupiter (the royal planet) and Saturn (which represented the Jews or Western lands) crossed each other which would have told the wise men that a king had been born in Jerusalem. Others think it may have been a comet.

Or it may have been something supernatural. God is powerful and, if he wants, can make new stars appear, can make stars move, or make them extra bright.

Regardless of what it was, God used it to guide these men to Jesus.

Day 2

About this Plan

Christmyths

Most people picture the first Christmas. Mary and Joseph show up on a donkey, get turned away from a hotel and end up in a barn. Jesus is born, wrapped in blankets and set in a feeding trough. Shepherds, three wise men, animals, and angels were all there (according to nativity sets). Is that the true picture? Not exactly. Let’s separate the true Christmas from Christmyth.
