Discerning God’s Will Through The Word

As you read the Bible, you will realize that God’s Word does not address most life situations and decisions. It does not speak directly about your work, studies, life, relationships, and future. If so, how does God guide us through his Word? 

As we read God’s Word, as we delight in Him by meditating in His Word, as we ponder and rediscover the gospel through His Word, God begins to renew our hearts, minds, and lives. And such a life delights in doing God’s will. 

God’s Word does speak about our situations such as marriage, work, friends, money, decisions, character, leadership and so on. As we read His Word, we learn about God’s heart in such matters. 

God’s Word speaks about our heart issues. It addresses our anxieties and fears and encourages us to trust in God’s unchanging character. 

God’s word speaks about our motivations in life. Sometimes we are driven to do something out of selfish and self-centered motivations. We make decisions out of heart issues such as control, comfort, power, and approval. Though on the surface, these decisions might seem good and godly, the Word of God reveals our true motivations. 

God’s will never contradicts His Word. May we delight in His Word, meditate on it day and night, enjoy studying it and root our lives in the unchanging Word of God.
