DAY 1 OF 9

What did God promise after sin entered the world?

God promised that a Savior would defeat evil and rescue His creation from the power of sin and death.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a mess, miles and miles down the wrong road. Maybe we just took one wrong turn, and maybe, we barely remember taking it or why it was taken in the first place. At the time, it didn’t seem that serious. It was just one small decision. But now we look around and wonder if there is any way back.

Sometimes the smallest decision not to follow Jesus in one way or another, costs far more than we knew and far more than we’re prepared to pay. We find ourselves in a web of lies, confusion, despair, and hopelessness.

But there’s good news! When we’re in that low and dark place, God promises not to leave us there. God doesn’t give up on us—not any  of us. When the first humans sinned, God didn’t throw them aside or let them go. He didn’t start over. He didn’t give up on them. He reached out with a plan of restoration.

Of course, there are consequences to our sin. But that doesn’t mean that God gives up on us. Following Adam and Eve’s sin, God promised to send a Savior into the world. This Savior would overcome sin, brokenness, shame, and depression. He would rescue God’s people.

If you feel lost today, if you feel like somewhere along the way you took a wrong turn, if you’re in a mess of brokenness and pain—remember that God hasn’t given up on you. He’s prepared a new way. A way that you can take right now. All you have to do is turn to Him. He’s the God that rescues and saves.

Spend some time today reminding yourself that, no matter where you are or how bad things get, God is the Savior and He promises to rescue and restore you.
