Love God Greatly - Names of God Part 1: Through Thanksgiving & Christmas

DAY 11 OF 38

Jesus’ arrival on earth prompts a heavenly praise and worship of the glory of God. The multitude of the heavenly host recognized God’s glory in Jesus even when men who He walked among did not.  The heavenly host recognized the great peace that He would bring even as His ministry brought division. Because of Jesus we have a new hope, a brand new life, and a future inheritance in heaven. These are tangible things we can hope for and look forward to. The day is coming when we will experience in person everything that we have been longing for here on earth.  Peace on earth. Goodwill amongst men. All glory given to God alone. When believers arrive in heaven our lives will be full and whole without sin, without fear, without pain, without sickness or sadness.  The future God has promised is real!

Who or what is receiving your glory? Are you placing your hope in your family, your friends, a relationship, your career, financial security, or your own efforts? What attacks of your mind and heart threaten to keep you from believing in the hope of God’s promise of eternal life in heaven worshipping Him along with the heavenly host?

Father God, I thank You for Your glory. I thank You for Your sacrifice so that I might experience peace on earth and peace among the people on earth. Lord, help me to keep my hope centered on Your promise of an eternity spent with You in worship.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly - Names of God Part 1: Through Thanksgiving & Christmas

When it comes to the names of God it is important to recognize that we do not name God. He names himself. This is important because it shows that there is something specific he wants to reveal about himself in his names. He transcends time and space. He is exalted above all things and is incomprehensible. And yet he has condescended to make himself known to us in ways that we can understand. He has given himself names to help us see his character.
