The Opportunity to Love

Previously in Poland, about 70 people who struggled with alcohol problems heard the Good News that there was one who understood them and could help. They had come to three days of special meetings for Ostroda Sobriety Days, led by Zbigniew Chojnaki, Ambassador for Christ International’s director in Poland. The motto of the evangelistic meetings was, "Jesus is a friend and never will leave you alone if you want to be with Him." Every night after the meetings, several alcoholics asked for prayer and gave their lives to Jesus.

One man, 38 years old, came to the meeting and that same night he repented of his sin and gave his life to Christ. After he prayed, he looked very happy. Later someone said that he had never smiled so much in his life. But unexpectedly, on the following morning, he was found dead in his bed at the camp. Though he didn’t realize it, he had come to the Savior in the last hours of his life.

God has given each of us 24 hours a day to live for Him. But He hasn’t told us how many days will be available to us. When it appears life will be shorter than expected, many are filled with regret at the important tasks they put off. As Jesus said, the most important commandments are loving God completely, others compassionately, and ourselves correctly. Is there anything in your relationship with your Lord or with others that you have been putting off?
