God Knows your name

DAY 2 OF 3

Why do I have to wait? vs. Who will I become while I’m waiting?

Right now, you can be waiting on God for a financial blessing, an unsaved loved one giving their life to Christ, a marriage, job, a place to live, healing, or a breakthrough in any area of your life.

Waiting on God is not always easy. Sometimes while waiting, bitterness, depression, doubt, manipulation, or envy can creep into our lives.

On some days, I can be the most impatient person ever. I am a New Yorker. LOL. We dread walking behind someone who is walking super slow. We dislike waiting in long lines. A traffic jam is not our thing. Even charging our phones becomes a headache. We are always in a rush to the next destination or thing.

While we may drive ourselves crazy rushing through life, God is never in a hurry, but he is always on TIME.

So why do you have to wait?

I remember a few years ago I went to the hospital for the worst stomachache ever. The doctors told me I had appendicitis and my appendix needed to be removed. I was in excruciating pain, and I had to wait 12 hours for surgery. After surgery, I was on bed rest and had to WAIT three weeks to heal! If I didn't wait, I would put myself at risk to not properly heal.

The same thing goes for each of us. When we don’t wait on God, we are putting ourselves at risk by trusting our timing over God’s timing. To doubt God’s perfect timing is moving forward without his advice. God’s timing is best.

Sometimes we can become angry with God, thinking, “I’m tired of waiting. If you don’t do something Lord, I’m going to do this or that. Why did you come through for so-and-so and I’m still waiting?”

Who will you become while you wait?

During your season of waiting, you start to see God do his greatest work in your life.

You start to really trust God with every area of your life.

You become a person whose faith cannot waver.

You become a praying man/woman.

You become a true worshipper.

You become a lover of God’s Word.

You gain strength and endurance.

You are grateful for the season of waiting.

In this season of waiting, rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say REJOICE!
