Bible 2020 The Mission to the WorldSample

The Mission to the World Day 8 of 20
In a world where so many are oppressed, hungry, imprisoned, exiled, orphaned and widowed, what can be done? The Psalmist speaks of God as powerfully working for those in deepest need: upholding the cause of the oppressed, feeding the hungry, setting prisoners free, lifting up those bowed down, watching over the foreigner, and sustaining the orphan and the widow. No wonder the Psalmist leads us in praise of God! But if we are to reflect the God in whose image we are made, then we must also reflect God’s concern for the weak and the voiceless.

About this Plan

Beginning with God’s covenants with Noah, Abram and David, these readings explore God’s ongoing mission to restore his broken creation, drawing people back to himself. God’s mission finds its fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ, a mission which the church continues today. Be part of a global movement changing the world around you by reading the Bible aloud for one minute every day.
