REVIVE

DAY 7 OF 7

DAY 7: REVIVE OUR WORLD

If God was to answer your prayers, would it change YOUR world, or would it change THE world? Sometimes our prayers can be about God reviving something for ourselves. But what if our prayers were bigger, what if our prayers could shift the heart of God and subsequently change the world.

God’s desire is for His people to live lives that are full of hope, full of purpose and full of life. Revival is God’s desire. So how do we see revival in our lives? 2 Chronicles 7 highlights a few areas that precede a move from God. As God has chosen us, His people, as the primary tool for His purpose, it’s important that we play our part in the plan that God has for the earth. So, what is the part that we play?

HUMILITY – In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God instructs the people to ‘humble themselves’. Humility is one of the keys to a move of God. Coming to a place where we realize how much we need God is the beginning of faith. When we understand the mess that we are in, and finally realize that we can’t get out of it in our own strength, we start to redirect our faith from our own abilities to a greater God. It is in this place that we begin to put our hope and our trust in God - and as we activate faith, that becomes the atmosphere for a move of God.

PRAYER - There is something about prayer that catches the attention of heaven. God is not a distant figment of our imagination, He is a loving father who cares for His children, who loves them deeply, who desires to walk with us and talk to us in a two-way relationship. God hears your prayer, and He hears the cry of your heart. As the church begins to gather in prayer across the earth – heaven’s ears are turned towards the people of God. It is time to pray for revival.

HUNGER - Verse 14 goes on to remind us that we should ‘seek’ God’s face. Another important element that precedes a move of God is the hunger of the people. Have you ever been so hungry that it starts to impact your emotions?  In our house we call it being ‘hangry’ (hungry and angry at the same time). The reality is that when you are hungry you become a little clearer about what you want. You don’t waste any time about getting it and you don’t stop till you get the thing that you’re hungry for. Hunger for revival works in the same way— a people who are focused on a move of God, desperate to see something change on this earth, and who will not stop till they see an outpouring of God’s Spirit.

REPENTANCE – This is when the people ‘turn from their ways’. Before a move of God, hearts must turn toward heaven. When people realize their need for Jesus, that will trigger a revival inside them which leads to a revival around them.

We live in revival days - the greatest moves of God are yet to happen, and we believe with faith and expectancy that God is on the move. Lost people shall be found. Blind eyes shall be opened. Dead things shall come to life. Now is the time for revival.

QUESTIONS:

1. What changes can I make to my prayer life to pray world-changing prayers?

2. How can I increase my hunger for the things of God?

3. What areas do I need to repent from to turn my heart and attention back to God?
