WELCOME TO GUARDIANS OF ANCORA FOR FAMILY BIBLE WEEK!

WHAT IS GUARDIANS OF ANCORA?

Guardians of Ancora is a game app, set in the amazing fictional world of Ancora. There you can discover the truth of God’s Word by becoming Guardians of the city. Even the name of the city echoes the truth, from Hebrews 6:19, that hope is an ‘anchor for our souls’.

At the heart of the city of Ancora is the Spire, bringing light to the community. That light needs the power of stories to keep it shining – and it’s the task of the Guardians to seek those treasured Stories of the Saga (Bible stories) and restore them to the city. In Philippians, Paul inspires God’s people to ‘shine like stars’ and that’s what you practise being, as you play the game. Guardians are active members of the community: what you do has a positive impact in your online world.

Each day of these devotions will lead you into playing Guardians of Ancora, talking together about your adventures and the meaning of what you discover, as you read the Bible and talk with God.

HOW DO WE FIND THE APP?

So what are you waiting for? Switch on your mobile device (the game is designed for tablet computers but also works fine on smart cell phones); make sure you are connected to WiFi; go to your app store and search for the game by name. Guardians of Ancora is totally free to download and play: you can be sure that there are no hidden costs.

Once you have installed and opened the app, you will be asked to choose your game character. If more than one person is going to use the same device, you can set up individual player accounts and each have your own character.

LEARNING THE BASICS

Before you go into a Bible Quest, you will be able to visit the Training Room to learn about how to run, jump and climb; and to meet Fabula, the chief storyteller of Ancora, who will join you on your adventures.

WHAT NEXT?

Through Family Bible Week, you’ll be playing a new Bible Quest each day – so do be patient and don’t do everything today! (If you’re keen practise your new skills, play ‘Messages from Angels’: it will not feature in this week of devotions but it’s a happy adventure to try.)
