How far will you go?
The length someone goes for something often shows how much they love something. From driving 40mins to try that new coffee shop, taking a day trip to a faraway city to try that new restaurant, or driving to the other side of town to visit that one clothes store with the nice fits. People go to extreme lengths to experience things they love. Jesus has the same as His love for humanity [John 3:16].
There’s a story in Luke where Jesus shares about how far He’s willing to go for humanity [15:3-7]. In this story, it displays a shepherd who loses one of their sheep. In the story, Jesus is the shepherd and the lost sheep refers to someone who is far from Jesus [Luke 15:4]. When an individual gives their life to Jesus, that's when the shepherd in the story finds the sheep [Luke 15:5]. Once you've given your life to Jesus, something beautiful happens, you are now called to follow the Shepherd's example and search for people who are far from Jesus to bring them back to him [Matt 28:18-20]. God wants to use you today to reach out to people who are far from God and help them on their journey back to him.
Helping lost people find Jesus starts with something as simple as an invitation to church, a conversation about God, or beginning to pray for them in your daily time with Jesus.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You searched for me and didn’t give up till You found me. I pray for a heart like Yours. A heart that will go to extreme lengths to see people be found in Your presence. Highlight the people in my world who need Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
