Walking in the TruthSample

All you need is love?
The Bible contains many beautiful verses about love, for example: “Love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10), “Love one another with brotherly affection” (Romans 12:10). Jesus commands his disciples to “abide in my love” (John 15:9). Love is a crucial element of the Christian life.
Nowadays, some people even claim that love is all you need. But the Bible does not agree with this statement. Truth is just as important.
Some Christians avoid speaking about the "Truth" altogether since this could lead to disagreement and discussion, which could, in turn, damage brotherly love. They prefer to enjoy loving communion even with people who hold different opinions on key doctrines like the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, or him being both God and man at the same time.
The apostle John considers this impossible. Truth and love should go hand in hand. John begins his second letter by expressing his “love in truth” for his fellow believers. Their communion is based on “the truth that abides in us and will be with us forever”.
Over the coming days, read with us about the meaning of truth, and its place in the life of a Christian.
