Moments for Mums: Loving When It’s Hard - Part 2Sample

Teaching our young children to be kind and love one another can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. One moment, sounds of laughter and playful chatter fill your home. You think that you can finally sit down to that cup of tea and then, in the blink of an eye, a toy is snatched or a mean word spoken, and you have yet again stepped into the role of chief negotiator and peacekeeper.
We can be left scratching our heads at the reactions our children have to seemingly insignificant wrongs, and laugh at their silly antics—but sometimes, adults don’t behave much better.
You only have to scroll through social media to see how much hatred can be stirred in an instant.
Civil rights activist Maya Angelou famously said: “Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in this world, but has not yet solved one.”
Jesus provided the ultimate antidote to hatred through his sacrificial act of dying on the cross. He showed that there is no greater love, than to lay down one’s life for their friends (John 15:13).
Question
How can you be part of the solution, and use love to cover all wrongs?
Prayer
Lord, life isn’t always fair and sometimes it feels like nothing can solve the injustice I see. Thank you that by your death and resurrection, you have covered all wrong with your power and perfect love.
Scripture
