DAY 5: Passions

Today I would like to focus on passion. The Oxford Dictionary defines passion as “a very strong feeling of love, hatred, anger, enthusiasm.” Passion can be good or bad. In this devotional, I will speak to passion from the perspective of an enthusiasm you have within you to do good, which you may not normally see depicted in this way. There are many biblical references to passion being something we must not follow, but that is about sinful passions. To find your life’s purpose, you must know what you are passionate about. You must know what drives you to make a change. Passion can be fuel for change in your life and impact on the kingdom of God. Passion is why Jesus went to the cross to save humanity from sin and offer us salvation and redemption. Passion is necessary if you are going to move toward your purpose and destiny. Once you know your passion, you can move toward setting goals to accomplish your destiny.

When you find your passion, you need to commit to making it a reality. To do that, however, you need to believe in that passion in your heart. One of the best ways to do this is to share your desires with another person.

Openly and honestly sharing what you believe God created you for is a terrifically empowering step. It will help solidify your goals and give you a sense of accountability. It’s also risky, though, because it means others may hold you accountable for your future. So the first person you need to share your passion with is God Himself.
