Roar Like a Lion

DAY 7 OF 7

Your Roar Story

Do you have a favorite story? Maybe it’s about a guy with a really cool flying suit that made you want to be an astronaut. Or a super-smart detective who made you want to solve mysteries. Or maybe it’s about a woman who spent her life helping the poor and inspired you to be a helper too. Stories make us laugh, cry, wonder, and dream. They teach us, guide us, and help us do brave things. And the best stories are the ones written by God.

God writes His stories with the lives of the people who love and follow Him—and the Bible is filled with their stories. There’s Abraham and Sarah, Esther, Peter, John, and so many more. God used their lives and even their struggles to tell the world about His great love.

God’s writing the story of your life too. Long before you were born, He planned how the story would go. He knows every twist and turn in the plot, and He’s got a plan to work out each one (Psalm 139:16). Best of all, He knows how He wants the story to end—with you in heaven with Him.

But you have to let God have the pen. Don’t snatch up the pen and pretend you’re in control of your life and can write your own story. Only God has that kind of control. He wants the story of your life to roar through this world—to be an epic adventure, one that will thrill you and help others find Him. All you have to do is be brave enough to let go of the pen.

Devotion

Lord, I give you the pen. Write my story, and let it roar with the good news of how wonderful You are. Amen.
